Help with Tangy
Install Tangy
Tangy needs Chrome 116 or newer. Once Tangy is in the Chrome Web Store, press Add to Chrome on its page. Until then, you can load it by hand:
- Download and extract the Tangy folder.
- In Chrome, open
chrome://extensionsand switch on Developer mode. - Click Load unpacked and choose the folder that has
manifest.jsondirectly inside. - Click the Tangy icon, or press
Alt+T.
Set up your key
Open the menu, then Settings. Choose a provider and paste your key. Groq and Google Gemini have free plans with limits; Anthropic is pay-as-you-go. Your key stays on your computer.
The microphone does nothing
Tap the ring once. The first time, Chrome opens a small page to allow the microphone, so press Allow. Voice also needs an internet connection, because Chrome’s speech recognition runs online. You can always type in the box below the chat.
“I need an API key first”
No key is saved for the provider you picked. Open Settings and paste one, or switch provider.
“That API key was rejected”
The key does not match the provider selected. Check the provider name and paste the key again.
Tabs, bookmarks or history don’t work
Those are optional. In Settings, press Allow tab access, Allow bookmarks or Allow history.
Tangy can’t read this page
Chrome’s own pages, the Web Store and some PDFs are off limits to every extension.
It looks plain or broken
Open Tangy from Chrome’s toolbar, not by double-clicking a file. If you just updated it, press the reload arrow on its card in chrome://extensions.
Delete my data
Menu, then Privacy, then “Delete everything Tangy stored”. Uninstalling the extension also removes it.
Still stuck?
